Adventure

My cat snores when he sleeps, and he just shifted around a little as well, looking so cute that I can’t help but think our relationship is going to be good for at least a few days before we anger each other again. That’s the way it goes, up and down like a ship on the water. Even though we have our downs, we still stay afloat and I wonder what we will do without each other when I go to college and am on what everyone seems to think is some sort of adventure.
It shan’t be an adventure for me, though. Adventures are not leaving home to go to school by yourself. Adventures are running towards that place where the real magic is and having your character tested and finding the doorway to a world of wizards and witches and dragons and fairies and everything books have told you are out there. That’s what adventures are.

Different

One of the best things about being you is your ability to think about something and know that no one else is thinking the exact same thing in the exact same way. It is marvelous to me to try and imagine what it's like to be someone else, because when I do, I always end up trying to imagine thinking completely differently, and having a completely different view on life due to being raised in a different atmosphere. And when I try to imagine this, I feel happy that I was raised the way I was and not in another way, otherwise I might not think about these things and I might not be grateful to be alive.

Twenty Ways to Beat Summer Boredom

1) Exercise. Not only will you feel great, and avoid boredom, but by the time the new school year starts up, you’ll look great, too.
2) Work on your Personal Progress. With enough dedication, you might be able to finish and get your Young Womanhood recognition by September.
3) Give yourself a makeover. Pamper yourself!
4) Get a part-time job. Earn some extra spending money.
5) Go to your local zoo or museum and spend the day exploring. If you’re going to the zoo, don’t forget sunscreen!
6) Organize a sleepover or two (or three!) with your friends.
7) Cook. Surprise your family with dinner or some homemade cookies.
8) Learn something new. For example; I would like to learn ballroom dancing and knitting.
9) Try to recreate outfits you’ve seen in magazines at your local thrift store.
10) Read. Keep your mind in shape and travel to places you’ve never seen.
11) Get a head start on Christmas and begin shopping or making gifts
12) Go to a good old fashioned BBQ or cookout on the fourth of July, or host one.
13) Give your room a makeover. Clean it from top to bottom and then rearrange the furniture.
14) Enjoy some fun outdoor activities with your friends, such as a water balloon fight, flashlight tag, Frisbee, or a favorite of my friends, human foosball.
15) Organize a game night with your family and play classic board games like Monopoly, Life, or Clue.
16) Attend a class on a subject you’re interested in, such as ballet, photography, cake decorating, history, etc. You’ll learn something new, and it’ll look good on college applications.
17) Keep a detailed daily journal about your summer vacation to look back on when you are an adult.
18) Try your hand at sewing your own clothes and accessories. It’s really fun, believe me, and you can make sure your clothes fit your personality and sense of style perfectly.
19) Reconnect with nature. Get up to see the sunrise, take time to admire the view, don’t drown out the sound of birds chirping with loud music.
20) If all else fails, keep moving. I can tell you from experience that the less you move, the more bored you are likely to get. Even when you sit down to think of something to do you’ll have an increased chance of succumbing to boredom. MOVE!!

Just remember to have fun. Summer vacation is a gift given to you so that you can have some free time to yourself to relax, unwind, and blow all the pressures of school to the wind. Enjoy it while you can; you won’t have it forever!

The One-Woman Movie Theatre

Some films are just meant to be viewed in private, whether it's because you would turn red to your ears if your friends found out you watched them (like if your were thirty-something and were watching "Telletubbies"), or because they make you cry (I was glad I was home alone when I saw "Marley and Me" for he first time because I shed more tears that day than Niagra Falls), or any other reason.

For me, the 1993 version of "A Little Princess" simply cannot be watched in the presence of others. I have loved this movie since I was a child, and I used to be able to watch it around others without a problem, but when I was thirteen years old my mother and I left my father after they had a big fight and "A Little Princess' had the luck to be the first movie I saw after we left. The scene in which Sara's father regains his memory and comes rushing out to save her, and them crying in each other's arms saying they will never leave each other again felt like a knife in my heart.

To this day I still cry when I watch that movie, and therefore I only watch it when I am alone.

A Tribute

Well, here I am. I am Little Louise, but you can just call me Louise if you want.

If you have not noticed, this is my first post, and I would like to use it to send a tribute to my dad, who has always been there for me, even when I make mistakes. Who has encouraged me to become the person I am today, who still tucks me in at night. I love you, daddy, and I will do my best to make you proud.

You may be wondering what this blog will be about, so I'll go ahead and enlighten you.

This blog will be my escape from the confines of the real world.

This blog will be my way of holding onto all of my childhood dreams and ideals.

This blog will be my way of showing the world who I am, and who I will be.

And finally, this blog will be my way of finding my way to Neverland, that very special place where I can learn to fly and never grow up...
